Arabizi.io is a free Arabic keyboard that runs in your browser, with real-time phonetic transliteration from Latin script to Arabic.

Millions of travelers, language learners, and expats only have a standard Latin keyboard on their phone or computer. Arabizi.io lets them type Arabic anyway: type Latin letters and digit-letters (like 3 for ع or 7 for ح) and the engine converts them to Arabic script as you type.

What is Arabizi?

Arabizi (also called the Arabic Chat Alphabet) is how Arabic speakers have written Arabic in Latin script since the early days of SMS and online chat, using numbers to stand in for sounds that don't exist in English — for example 7 for ح and 3 for ع.

Arabizi.io automates this: it's a real-time Yamli-style engine that converts what you type into Arabic script instantly. Typing salam alaykom produces السلام عليكم.

What it does

How it's built

Arabizi.io is built with Nuxt, Vue, and Tailwind CSS, and set in the Cairo typeface for Arabic text. The transliteration engine runs entirely client-side.
